My name is Mallory Bennett and I’m proud to represent Ohio District 1 in the U.S. House of Representatives. The United States faces many challenges today. Some of these challenges include military veterans homeless assistance, school safety programs, manufacturing space technology, military veterans ptsd treatments and counseling, science and math education development, and many other issues that Congress must deal with in order to make our society better. I feel that Congress can play a role in helping solve some of these major issues. I will work very hard to serve you in the House and together we will help make America strong again.
The House of Representatives feel that military veterans assistance programs is a topic we should mainly focus on. These past military personnel's gave us our freedom and fought for every person in the United States during war. They've kept us from death and serving their own time in war just to protect our lives. Two-thirds served our country for at least three years, and one-third were stationed in a war zone. We are going to offer them homeless shelters. They didn't have to risk their own lives and protect us so we should provide them a shelter to live in. About half of the homeless veterans suffer from mental illness and more than two-thirds suffer from alcohol or drug abuse problems.
School safety programs is a worldwide known issue. The House of Representatives believe that all schools should be attempting to better their students workplace. 25 percent of public schools reported the use of random dog sniffs to check for drugs, 21 percent required that students wear uniforms, 7 percent required students to wear badges or picture IDs, and 4 percent used random metal detector checks. Every time students walk into a school we never know what will happen. A child might pull out a knife or even drugs. We can not having the possibility of risking innocent children and teachers lives. Violent acts in schools occur at all educational level with 8% of students involved in at least one physical fight at school and 6% missing school at least once in a month because of security fault. Considering there are still shootings in schools and violence is still occurring we all have to be doing something to overcome these issues.
Manufacturing space technology programs is another program we have to invest money into. Investing money into this program will give us information from the spacecraft that can help us improve agricultural yields and protect habitat loss and deforestation. The space technology will be able to grow rapidly and expand the opportunities while moving into the future. We could start by donating money towards satellites. Satellites have played an enormous role in improving the state of the world, and will do even more as an explosion of technology innovation enables large new fleets of small satellites to be deployed with radical new capabilities. Having the satellites in space they can send of feedback and help us improve agricultural yields and protect habitat loss and stop deforestation.
Military veterans ptsd treatment and counseling program is a topic we are concerned about. Military veterans have trouble adjusting to a normal civilian life. Military members and veterans have seen, felt and done things that the general population has not. They need treatment that understands the individual, complex challenges they face now and the life experiences that underlie these challenges. Giving the veterans this opportunity would be an honor for what they have faced and experienced.
Finally, students of all ages or location should have the proper education in science and math classes. The brain regions involved in higher math skills in high-performing children were associated with various cognitive tasks involving visual attention and decision-making. Saying that math is very effective in our everyday life so is science. We use science everyday with out realizing because we use energy and medicine. All of these reasons is why we need to give the departments money for this bill.
