As being a congresswoman I should have a interest to what I think we need to fix, which I do. I believe that drug abuse prevention programs is a issue that needs to be fixed. Addiction is a chronic disease characterized by drug seeking and use that is compulsive, or difficult to control, despite harmful consequences. Being addicted to drugs will effect bodies and disorient the brain. Brain changes that occur over time with drug use challenge an addicted person’s self-control and interfere with their ability to resist intense urges to take drugs. Even though it is a relapsing disease we should act to decrease the deaths from this national issue.
Drugs can have everlasting effects on a persons body. Some effects of drugs include health consequences that are long-lasting and permanent. They can even continue after a person has stopped taking the substance. When these consequences take place they end up affecting you and everyone around you. Nobody would want to see their family members falling apart and crumble right there in front of them. Prioritizing a drug over loved ones can very quickly lead to self-alienation and tarnished.
